The biggest challenge was undoubtedly the tape management module which tracks the life of each tape, keeping a record of how often it has been used, what incidents are stored on it, who degauzed the tape and when, and a host of other details. All this is essential in order to build an audit trail for the life of each tape. Fault Reporting and Tracking The development of the Equipment Fault Reporting module took cctv fault management to a new level of efficiency. At the start of each day the operators were presented with a list of all the equipment they were monitoring on screen. The list contained all the outstanding faults from the previous day as well as all the equipment in working order. It was a simple operation for the operators to work through the list and delete faults if they had been fixed and add any new faults that had occurred. On completing the list the new list could be printed and faxed or emailed to the engineer at the click of a button. At the end of the day the supervisor could run a report to make sure that all the equipment had been checked.
